R129 V8 Amg

While I waited for my tracking to be sorted on my E320 at my Merc Specialist, one of the guys was telling me that I would have loved to have been in their shop the other day.
"Why?" I enquired.
"We had a blue 1992 SL60 AMG. The owner was telling me it was built for someone famous, but I can't think....What was his name?"
"The Sultan of Brunei?"
"Yes! That's him"
"It's not a blue one with blue leather and the early AMG ducktail spoiler. 17" split rim alloys"
"Yes, that's it"

It seems that one Martin Pearce of MCP Motorsport, here in Norfolk, has bought the car we were discussing. The car had little history, but the history has been researched.
It is a genuine SL60 AMG....the full fat 6.0 32v V8, and was bought by the Sultan of Brunei.
Apparently one of the roof struts had a severe leak, and some interior trim will need replacing. The wheels have been refurbished, and my Merc Specialist gave the car a service.

Sadly the advert on PistonHeads has gone, and I didn't keep any pictures of this car - I'm sure a few of you may remember it though.

Once all work has been completed, I've been told that the car will be up for sale again

I guess if it had little history, then that would be reason for it's cheap price?
