Only just seen this @Piff. It certainly puts life into perspective. Wishing you and yours all the very best. Keep us posted. Lots of genuinely nice folk here who are available to support. :thumb:
Strange how life works out.
I'm 5 years older than her and planning retirement. Lump sums put into pension schemes over the last few years and big sums done to try to work out how much to draw from the pot annually to ensure the pot lasts throughout expected retirement years.
I was convinced that I would pop my clogs years before her and had concerns as to how she would manage without me, both financially & practically.
Like you said "it certainly puts life into perspective"

Well, the 2 legions on her liver turned out to be about 10 areas where the pancreatic cancer has spread.
Chemotherapy to start next week which the consultant hopes will “buy” 6 to 12 months of life.

Thank you for the update. Sending best wishes to Mrs Piff, yourself and all your family. Life is very cruel. 😤

Well, the chemo was due to start tomorrow but the team to administer it can't start until 23 March (too busy). Consultant says that is too far away & she must start chemo sooner. A slot was found at a local NHS hospital for next Wednesday.
I took her to hospital for a dressing change on her PICC line this morning & a check up which included a covid test. She has been feeling rough since Monday & I've not been too sharp either. Despite being careful generally & particularly over the last week or two, we both have covid for the first time:wallbash:.
She did a self test on Tuesday & it was clear.
Chemo now delayed until she is clear of covid.

Sorry to hear this mate. Rotten timing for you both. Hope it passes asap for Mrs Piff and chemo can be arranged very soon after.

Please keep us updated. 👍🙏

Oh Life can be difficult just when you need it to be the opposite, best wishes to you both

Hospital are now issuing covid anti-viral drugs to aid with her recovery so maybe she can still have the first chemo next Wednesday.
Don't know how that will work if I'm in the same house & I don't get the drugs:dk:

By the way, thanks all for your comments. Being able to "chat" helps with the pain.

@Piff Just picked up on your post from 21st Feb and today's update.

So sorry to hear the news and I hope the chemo works to give you and Mrs Piff more time together.

If you haven't already, I'd advise getting in touch with Macmillan who will be able to offer both of you advice, guidance, support and hopefully some comfort.

We are in touch with Macmillan thanks - they are doing the first chemo at the Macmillan Unit at the hospital

Well, she tested Covid clear in time for her 1st chemo on Wednesday. I was still testing positive so number 1 son took the day off to support her.
Chemo treatment is 3 separate drugs, 2 put in by drip on the day and the 3rd is on a different device about the size of a tennis ball which she brought home. This drug is then ”pumped ” in over the next 46 hours.
She is now very lethargic, sick on the two days after the initial doses. So far today has managed to keep down a slice of toast.
Covid day 10 for me & I’m still testing positive. Symptoms very mild though.
