R230 SL 350 SRS and Command

SRS light appears to be on intermitently of late ( I know it says go to the dealer) but the radio and command unit also appears to be cutting out.
Are these items linked in any way, share a fuse etc.

This is with roof up and down, so not sure if the SRS is rollover bar or airbags etc?

There will be a fault code logged. A Star diag machine is what is needed.

They are probably unrelated faults. Do you loose just the sound from the comand?

The srs fault maybe the connections under the seats.

There are some modified parts for the 230 for the connections under the seats.

Thanks for the quick reply. The command unit gives a bit of a pop and goes off, map and audio or nav whatever is being used.
I did try to start the car without sitting on a seat to see if that made any difference.

Took it of a spin and nothing happened.
Seem to recall it has said " system not supported" ( I pressed the dvd button ?) or system unavailable for the nav, radio seems to go off screen goes blank though may have the logo, and it appears to be able to turn on again immediately.

After a few trouble free days the fault appeared again today, constant radio switching off, command saying "service unavailable".
Then on one occasion a bit of chattering/creaking from over my shoulder!
I therfore suspect the rollover bar as the culprit.
Not sure why it turns off the command though.

Was out in Lincolnshire the other day and my Nav/map jumped to Sheffield!

I therfore suspect the rollover bar as the culprit.

After some trouble free motoring and discovering I may have been putting the wrong battery on charge! ( Front battery only starts the car apparently)Also some internet searching which advised that windscreen wipers may not work with this problem. Also that the fault may be a SAM unit or EIS module?

The problem re appeared!!
SRS light on red, also orange rollover bar at times, when this appears the airbag light also flashes and having tried the windscreen wipers I can confirm that they dont operate either.
Entire command unit goes off, radio map cd etc. Also a popping/creaking sound behind driver in the boot or rollover bar?
Fault clears after a while or has done and has not been evident when the car was serviced.

SL R230 - SRS, Wiper, Comand / Command, Roll Bar, Air Bag Light

I also have the almost the same issues (2006 SL350) as you but no clicking of the seat. Instead I have a rapid clicking from the roof light console by the rear view mirror.

I took the car to specialist who clearly knew what they were alking about and they re-plugged all 3 SAM's and checked for water ingree / corrosion. Reset all of the faults with STAR. Fault vanished for about a week and then came back. If SRS light comes on, it usually re-sets itself (and resolves all of the other issues) after about 50 minutes of driving.

I am convinced rain (or washing) or damp weather causes the problem to happen.

SL lovely car but the fault does deminsh the ownership experience !

Does anyone have any ideas?

Srs command issues sl350 2006

Have seen the posts regarding srs light and rollover bar showing with the command switching itself on and off had mercedes reset the system but this returned after 3days what is the cure?

Is the command unit faulty or is it dampness casing it due to a boot leak
