Evening all.

I'm working my way through a few bits that need sorting on my R500. I've got a new battery to fit this coming week (its a big bu**er, I'll have to be careful I don't put my back out.... ), I 'fixed' the rear parking sensors (what I mean is, I realised the display is viewed in the rear view mirror, which I'd not previously noticed.....oh, the shame!! :o), that leaves the driver's door mirror adjustment to sort, and the hinged rear side windows.

The previous owner had to have a new tailgate module fitted just before I bought the car - he knows the hinged windows were working just prior to that, they seem to have stopped working after the job was done at a Mercedes dealer.

Quick question - does the tailgate module have any connection to the operation of the hinged windows? If not, I'm wondering if a wire's been pulled off somewhere - does anyone know where exactly the module is located so I can have a look?

I'm pretty sure the read SAM controls the rear windows, but it may well be the rear SAM was replaced as it fails a lot more than the electric tailgate control. When you install it, you get asked *loads* of questions and it is easy to answer them wrong and have stuff not working. I suspect that is what has gone wrong.

Just dug the invoice out - 'replace tailgate lock mechanism and reprogramme the rear actuation module'.....£541 in total!

Anyway, presumably just the mechanical (?) lock was replaced, not the module, so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree thinking there was a connection. Tbh, them not working doesn't bug me that much really - I don't think I can be bothered to delve any further.....unless its just a fuse of course.... :D
