Car
1998 CLK
I've just bought a1998 clk kompressor. When I got it the previous owners double din alpine stereo was in and had perfect radio reception. Unfortunately I had to give it back as it was not part of the deal so I tried to replace it with my previous stereo and also the original factory fit unit. Both these items now have no radio reception just static. I can't think what I have done, I've fiddled with the aerial connection but it doesn't get any better I can't see any breaks in the aerial cable? I have also removed the rear screen window tints and that is all I have done to the car since I had it. Does anyone have any ideas about what could cause it and more importantly how to sort it.

There's a very strong possibility that your car has an aerial amplifier which needs a power feed from the radio. Unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram for it so can't tell you wire colours and suchlike.

Perhaps someone else can help?

will have a look at that one but I have tried re-fitting the original radion from the car and still the same result.

It's also possible the rear screen aerial connection was disturbed or a track broke when you removed the tint film.
