Rain X

As others - amazing stuff - until you put on the wipers (and yes, I used exactly per the instructions!)

Because you'd be saying its amazing. Try the spray on rain x window cleaner. It's awesome.

I think not.

Actually i think it quite rude to make such an assumption of so many people that share the same experience (probably the majority).

i found the same, it was ok until you switched the wipers on, i was thinking of giving it another go as i still have a bottle or two left somewhere

This is my experience of it too. Clever stuff but it has limitations. Besides that, the Unimog doesn't go fast enough for it to work properly!

I have been using the stuff on all my cars for years now. Works perfect for me and apart from a monsoon downpour, the wipers stay on intermediary all the time and no need for more. I agree with Camerafodder, you need to drive over a certain speed for it to work correctly.

Love them and have been using it since for about 30 years. Works a treat especially on classics whose wipers are vacuum operated and also around the house - keeps shower screens clean for ages and on conservatory glass.

Not sure what all the fuss is about smearing or squeaky blades if applied as directed. I've always bought generic wiper blades and change them at least annually. In fact I give the blades a wipe with Rain-X too when treating the glass.

Seems a bit drastic to have a windscreen replaced due to Rain-X contamination as it doesn't last that long.

Same problem with wipers for me too, good without, rubbish with. Im getting the impression that this isnt as wonderful as it first seemed.

Does the manufacturer offer to contribute to your speeding fines? :D

"Sorry, Officer. I was going 60 in that 20 zone because I couldn't see properly through my windscreen..."

Nah 50 should suffice mate.

Judging by this thread I sense the majority like it.

Try the spray stuff if you haven't. You'll clean your windows and have treated the screen. Its a quid more than the normal bottled stuff but as a love child of a Yorkshireman and a Scot I can say its worth it, and I'm proper tight fisted.

I've tried all sorts of windscreen cleaners to get rid of the smearing when the windscreen wipers are on. Tried RainX after seeing the recommendations but have to say I found it as bad as the rest - as if I've had a load of oil smeared on the windscreen!! So it went in the bin.
Best answer, in my experience, is Autoglym Glass Polish inside and out - faint smearing on the first wipe but quickly settles down to be largely smear free (in my view (!) - sorry!!) :D

I just use normal car polish on my windows and it seems to do the same thing...

I don't see whats so difficult. Use rain X and it clears the screen above a certain speed. Turn wipers off, and when you need to clear the screen, just push the wiper button in once to clear it, and leave for ages.

Fancy pants auto wipers, folk really don't need them.

Anyone else acknowledge the oddity of debating a rain repellent during the hottest week of the year? :)

I tend to wash my windscreen then degrease blades and screen with vinegar.

Normal MB screen wash too.

Works for me ...

I reside in Scotland, rain is never far away:o

I agree - one week of decent, sunny weather and some are all hoping for rain - just to clear the skies, like !!

Me - straight out with the BBQ and cold beer.

I love this warm weather.
