My C200 is off the road for the winter whilst I get the bodywork upto scratch and the suspension sorted.
I fitted a new belt tensioner and damper recently but it still hasn't cured the problem it is the correct belt too...
the damper seems to rapidly move around, when the engine is idling trying to keep the belt tight and produces an annoying rattling noise almost like the chain is going! but as soon as the car is revved the belt tightens up, the rattle, goes and the damper, doesn't move, it just generally smooths out.
It's seems worse when the car is in drive and the A/C is on, but in park and the A/C it's noticable too...
Any thoughts? The pulleys are all fine, no play!
