Re awakening a sleeper

I know john, I bottled it with the front tyres when I last had her running (they had gone thrupenny bit shaped with age) so i know its fresh rubber all round. She (for my daughters positivley assure me not only is it a she, but that "she" is called "Cruella" a' la disney film , due to all the lights on the front.).
Im going to go through the brakes as well,!!!.
Does anyone know best scource for slave cyl seals and flex pipes or is it a MB main dealer job?.

Can't advise on the seals but don't buy until you've inspect the slave bore. Consider retro fitting braided flex's but you'll probably need to get them made up by one of those mobile hose companies, Pirtek etc.

So, when are you flogging the plate? ;) I noticed it's a left hooker too, great for resale in the likes of Germany. Yes, I'm on commission :D

If it was my car I don't think I'd go down the classic tyre route if avoidable & practical.

Would not disagree. A move to a 15inch diameter wheel opens up a much wider range of tyres offering both economic and technical advantages. :thumb: However for some folks orginality is important.:dk:

Plate not sellable here John unfortunately, it's Manx.
(I had it on a late 70's 350 s class then transferred it to cruellla. Iom govt have since re allocated it)

Welcome, lovely to see someone equally insane.

Anything that keeps you out of the hands of Longstone is a good thing, they know how to charge.

What tyre size are they? My W114 has some reasonable options on 14s, but when I re-tyred my Allard I found a supplier (North Hampshire) a £100 a corner cheaper than the big boys - they do deals.

Yeah, 15 inch would be my thinking as well while still using steels and chrome hub caps.

Well I never realised that, I'm use to seeing the current IOM format. As a side note, I'd imagine there could be a nice earner from those old style plates if saleable, there must be some gems.

Governor has man1
I know of a man1c and most of the Teutonic scrabble set is displayed on an assortment of appropriate beemers and benzes .
Old plates had man in them, then they started with Amn. Bmn Cmn etc but format was like ours . now of course they look very different.
As an aside cruellla fired up today but 7 of the injectors filling the vee with fuel!,,,, not a good look. So it's off to the injector man next week.

Update , spoke to Dave collins , sounds a really nice clued up bloke, he can get compensator spring kits from germany at what sounds sensible money, and as an aside tells me that the left hand drive quad lights which will need swapping for somthing uk can be replaced with 15cm ones from a german injection capri or a nissan of some type, I've spoken to my spanner man who thinks they look the same as his early scirocco, Anyone have a kleptomaniac mate with anything like that in the shed?

Probably talking about the RS2600 OR RS3100 MARK 1 CAPRI MODELS

I hope not as they must be rarer than the merc ones!!! I think he means the cologne engined injection model they made at the end .

Ah the 2.8 injection- the Mark 3's all had twin round headlights [ Lucas sealed beam units?] which some people mistakenly transplanted into their square headlighted Mk 2s - not a good look! I think throughout the lifetime of the Capri all the US versions had the twin round headlamps . :dk: Those RS2600 LHD Kugelfischer mechanical injection Mk 1 Capris :cool::cool: had Cibie lights. AFAIK- Rarer than hen's teeth now. You might have some luck with the later Mk 3's

Just an update , Cruella is coming along nicely, hope to have her through the test center before too long.
When its done and I'm converting fuel into noise carbon monoxide and style, Has anyone any ideas of where she can get a run out to this summer in the northern half of the country to meet some of her relations?
