Re-sync Keys?

My kind wife decided to put my car keys through a 40degree cycle so now my keys won't lock/unlock the car, it will however start the ignition. Is it possible to sync the key? its a 2001 CL.

It's possible that the key is dead.

The power to turn the ignition comes from the ignition itself , not from the key. Once the key is inserted , the ignition switch powers up the key somehow. I guess that this is to ensure that if the battery dies miles from anywhere , you can still get home ( open the door with the emergency blade and the car powers the key ).

The battery in the key only powers the lock/unlock infra red.

Take the key apart, remove the batteries and wash it in clean water, then dry thoroughly before fitting new batteries.

well looks like a new key, new battery's and a quick dry in the airing cupboard and no luck!

It is powered via the induction coil (key slot).
