Dear All,

it was a lovely cool sunny evening today.

So for the first time since i bought the car i pressed the magic button.

Fingers crossed it all works.

And yup it did go down smoothly, if a bit slowly.

I then drove home with the wind in what is left of my hair. Great fun.

Also thankfully when i got home the roof went up again.

Must do this again, so come on warmth and sunshine.

THis si the first convertible that i have had and i now see the attraction of roof down motoring.

regards David

I agree, open-top motoring can be great. Two bits of advice when the sun's strong though:
  1. Wear a hat
  2. Use sunblock

Have faith in your roof: the SLK has one of the most reliable roof mechanisms of any coupe-convertible. The roofs on my previous R170 and current R171 have never given me any trouble.

I only use my SLK with the roof down. That's what it is for.
Guess who doesn't go out on rainy days.

Nah - if it rains you just need to go faster and let the air flow take care of the wet.

Not sure about that... tried it with my Saab once and I got wet... :D

Only time the roof on my SL is up is when its raining. Heaters on high, blowing at feet and over your hands. Heated seat on. Sorted
