Really Need Help!!

i know this is my 1st post but i have signed up with this forum to learn
but here goes.....

i recently got hold of a clock for a c270 w203 merc and have found out its supposed to have a 93c86 chip on the back but the one ive got doesnt have 1 and really need a dump of the chip as i have purchased 1 to put back on it would anybody be able to help me try and find the dump please

i know me too i dnt really know much about chips and dumps but i do know i have to find the full memory dump of it in order 2 reprogram it with the right data...

but am very stuck in finding it some 1 must be able to help ...

I suspect you are going to need a dealer/specialist who has access to Star diagnostic equipment.

I'm assuming that 93c86 is some sort of EPRom?

basically the problem i have is evry other dump i have tried to program into the chip and then put back onto the clock and insert into the car doesnt work properly all the dials go mad and have a mind of their own i really need the correct dump to put back on as the digital clocks for these motors are very expensive.

as any one got any ideas where i would be able to find the dump please.

Hi. With the greatest respect I/we don't understand what you are trying to do in the first place. Could you let us know from basics? Is this a speedo clock you are referring to and you want to set it to the correct mileage? Is it a time clock and in that case what relevance does the chip have? Etc. etc.

You'll find people are very knowledgeable and helpful on here but need to clearly understand the problem first.

But what kind of clocks? Why are you replacing them? What information are you wanting to dump back to the chip? If it is just a time clock why would you want to put information back? It may be me but I really do not understand what you are trying to achieve and feel that may be why you have not seen any real guidance as yet.

P.S. I wonder. Are you replacing all the dash clocks with the nicer looking white dial ones or something like that and need to oddemeter setting

they are digital clocks and i am replacing them for a freind as the car was a writeoff so he had to buy most of the components for it and the digital clocks were 1 of tyhe items he needed to buy

basically bro my speedo or my fuel guage dnt work nor does any of the lcd so am thinikin bcuz i ant got the chip on my clocks but there is place for it i need a full dump to put back on

If you are replacing the cluster, I beleive it needs to be a new one so that it can be programmed (through STAR).
A second hand one will display its old mileage & can not be programmed to a new mileage

Basically the mileage is also stored in (I think) the front & rear SAM units or ECU, so these all need to match if you are replacing, or you need a new cluster & someone who knows how to program it

One of your problems may be that the instrument cluster contains part of the vehicle immobiliser system according to that BBA Reman reference I gave you. This may mean only Mercedes will be able to do this for you? Have you tried using the original chip from your old instrument cluster, it might be OK??

ok guys it doesnt really matter what mileage is stored on the chip as i will have no choice in getting it corrected but as for the immobilizer its not stored in the 93c86 eprom as the car works fine without the clock in.


its really beginning to do me in lol

am in desperate need of a dump please anyone!!!!!!

Gotta say , i know it'll be expensive , but for the time you have wasted on this , you'd probably be better going to the dealers with a VIN and ordering the correct cluster.

There's no guarantee that what you are trying to do is going to work , and then you'll be back to square 1.

You need to speak to an expert who can code clusters & has the STAR system- a main dealer or try comand.co.uk
