I was washing car today and noticed the car was sitting lop sided, the nsr is sitting 3/4" lower than osr fronts are dead the same.

Any idea's why this would be eg damaged spring or damper and does it matter or affect handling

Thanks

Probably a broken spring. Yes it does matter. Having said that the 124 must have had a broken front spring for a while as it was found at a recent service. I had not noticed anything amiss with the ride or handling.

Its due for a service soon so will get them to check to see if anything a miss, not getting any clunks over bumps.

Resurrecting an old thread...

I have exactly the same problem on my W202 C270. It's sitting 3cm lower on the o/s rear corner - strangely, just after a loud, metallic 'clang' from the back end.

Helpfully, it's Boxing Day and I'm in Cornwall but need to get back to West Oxon! Hey ho. If I wanted a problem-free life I wouldn't buy old cars.

A loud clang sounds like a broken spring :(

Definitely a broken spring, but generally very easy to replace.. Can't imagine it's that different a set up to what's on the back of my W203... About 3 bolts to undo, hold the rear arm down and spring falls out... :-)
