Any idea's? I will need to replace them shortly, and I really have no clue what to go for or where to get them.

Cheers

Simon

Thanks, it was the first place I found but the £100 put me off...
Looks like I may have to bite the bullet.

You can get they slightly cheaper on eBay sometimes.

are Iridium plugs the best there is?

Try some Iridium plugs from here.

Pretty much - supposedly increase economy slightly over copper or even platinum plugs and operate on lower voltage so less load on the ignition. I'm quite happy with mine - only took an hour to fit all 16.

how often should spark plugs be changed?

I think mine are originals .. the car is 5 and bit years old and has done 42k miles

Sean, on my M113 which is much like yours :) it's in the book as part of the four year standard service (or 60K miles IIRC). So at 5 years it might be worth looking at. It cost me 16 plugs @ 5.38 +VAT each and 2 hours labour.

Of course, there's lots more to the 4 year service than plugs...atf and petrol filter change etc.

yeah, it's the big one coming this autumn.

ATF done last year at 36k miles.

needs new coolant, brake fluid, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil.

Hope you're still using that independent. I did, and saved 50% on labour. The parts were genuine MB and at list, but hey! (I have the regular A & B service done by an authorised dealer to maintain the anti-corrosion goodwill warranty.)

my servicing plan is exactly like yours ...

also you get mobilo which is over £100 per year on AA/RAC, so it's sort of not bad!

it applies for up to 30 years so long as it's serviced by MB, I think ....

Mobilo breakdown cover only applies to the first 4 years doesn't it?

That's just the corrosion warranty - not the breakdown cover. 30 years applies to "Technical breakdown (electrical?) or starting problems".

IIRC MobiloLife cover lasts up to 30 years and includes recovery involving roadside mechanical/electrical breakdown. It's a get-you-home safely and/or get your car fixed thing. Nice to have but no substitute for full cover imo.

I need a separate policy for failure to start at home, recovery following an accident, loss of keys etc. - and for different vehicles.
