Hi all,

Should I go for my next service at mercedes dealership or independent mb specialist here in Nottingham? I am due In for a B service..
Any downsides to using a specialist?
Cheers

How old is your car? Has it always been maintained within the dealer network?

Most Mercedes dealers will discount the service cost for cars over 3 years and 7 years, so depending on the age of the car, cost might not always work against having the car serviced by a dealer.

In my case I went for Olly PCS from year 4 onwards because I received a worryingly substandard service at North London's main MB dealership.

So I would say that the priority should be to find a place that has good references - MB Dealer vs Indie is a secondary consideration.

I have a 59 plate, what I do know is mb specialists here are definitely half the price for each service..

Sorry and yes has a full mb dealership service history

And by the way I have an e class saloon.. Been reading about dealers not quoting on e classes!?

You would probably want to keep the service record. Have always had the Viano serviced by the local (20 miles away) MB dealer and have always had good service including a loan car for the day. Have not noticed particularly that costs are high indeed the last service came in less than quoted and they also valet it as well. Some think that the service plans are good value also.

Will I still be able to claim a full mb service history if I get next service at an independent?

I doubt it very much as it hasnt been fully done by an mb dealer if you go to an indy.

No, if you supply your own oil it will help with a reduced quote with mb.

Ok thanks looks like I'm going to the dealer! Do the dealer give you a choice to pick from for the loan car?! Wouldn't mind a convertible for the day lol!

Do they do convertible Smart cars?

Yes, Smart do a "Fortwo" cabrio.
Funnily enough, last time I put mine in for a service I was loaned an E-class cabrio. Not at all comfortable and it peed down all day!
