What is the recommended oil for a w202 c180? It has 140k on it if that makes any difference

I have always used Mobil One 0/40 on my 202.:thumb:

Never had any problem using it. Maybe more expensice to buy, but you won't go wrong with it imho.

Stick with Semi Syn and change it regular I use either Fuchs or Quantum on my W208 CLK

Yep, as Kiki said, 0w/40 Mobil is great, I also used it on my W202 C200, did an excellent job and engine also went quieter.. use the best for merc engines where possible :thumb:

With an engine that's done 140K miles and a car that's 10 years old using a 0w40 fully synthetic oil is a needless expense. Mobil 1 0w-40 New Life Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 5 Litre= £45 approx Fuchs TITAN XTR 10w-40 High Performance Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil - 5 Litres= £15 approx or even Fuchs TITAN SUPERSYN 5W-40 High Performance, Fully Synthetic, Engine Oil - 5 Litres=£23 they are a third or half the price of the Mobil 0w40 :dk: Everyone has different ideas about oil but on older cars you have to balance any benefit from running a high tech oil against the cost of keeping the car on the road?

I was originally thinking 10/40 cause of the mileage and likey wear on the engine meaning it would probably burn the thinner oil, but now im wondering ifaybe 5/30 would be ok in it?

Unless the handbook approves a x/30 - don't.
The second number in the sequence (30,40, etc) is where the high speed high temperature protection is. Do not downgrade.

What's it currently running with?
