I will put this here as its remap related so might get better response.
2008 E280 cdi sport EGR delete.
Does this need mapping out of software or not, then insert an Egr blank?

If egr is in good working order it's electronically mapped out and it remains closed with no eml .

If it's sticking open at all , blank and remap .

No, it needs proper maintenance not a cheap scuzzy bodge that poisons the rest of us.

This butchering of diesels, undetectable at point of resell to prospective purchasers is going to knock the floor out of the secondhand diesel market. I don't give a monkey's - I drive petrol. But the rest of you - just sitting quietly letting it happen. Your loss.

Love this subject , the gubberment have done a sterling job on raising revenue because diesels are low CO2 VED .

The gubberment won't tell you how to avoid diesel particulates and NOx , I will !

Diesel cars are just a pain in the hole with their EGR problems & DPF problems.

Lol, I love this :D:D.
Put a post up asking advice and get exactly what i asked for, thank you Gazwould.
Then the opinionated keyboard warrior Bellow comes a running in obviously spoiling for a fight. Well sir you wont find a fight here so just jog on past. There has been a lot of stuff said on how bad diesels are, this is after the powers to be pushed these engines as the best thing since sliced bread, then recently they are not a 100% sure of what they have been saying is correct, you have to laugh dont you.
Then apparently my car needs proper maintenance, except my egr valve works 100% fine so not sure what maintenance it needs. what it does need in my opinion is that 100% working egr valve adjusted till it never puts carbon back into my intake that will do more harm than good to my engine, i have seen the damage these systems do to intakes and the restrictions they can cause which in turn makes for a very dirty running engine that is not happy at all, then as they lower the temperature in the combustion chamber the knock on effect is lower exhaust gas temperature, which in turn cause Cats and Dpf filters to block, I will assure you that I wont be removing any of those last two though as when i have higher exhaust gas temperature mine will stay clean.
Bellow if the pollutants from cars bother you so much, why try to take the high ground because you drive a petrol. Why not put that wasted breath to use and buy a pushbike because I dont really care what you think. ;)

Any tampering or modification of the vehicles emission control equipment is technically an MoT fail. Whether such mods described are detectable ....

If it passes an mot, all's good as far as I am concerned. Ì have never had a vehicle fail a emission test because òf blanked egr òr come any way close to failing n emission test. So if a emission test can't tell it's not doing what it apparently does emission wise, who to say it done it in the first place. Don't tell me you believe the manufacturers, Vag group said they sold eco vehicles. Didn't meen it was the truth.

For its worth, in N.Ireland, the official government controlled MOT centres don't check diesel car emissions, so if it fails an MOT on the mainland for emissions, get it on a boat, and bring it here - it'll pass no problem!
They stopped checking diesel emissions in 2006 for health and safety reasons in the MOT centres believe it or not

Lol, health and safety reasons eh. It would not fail here anyway from disabling the egr valve on an emission problem, if they could see it had been tampered with as mentioned, they would fail, just like DPF ect. but if done right you cant tell its been modded.
