Hi all,
Anyone with de-cats had the cold start feature mapped out? Whilst i am pleased with the noise and sound of my CLS63 since having it de-catted (and now a straight through zorst:rolleyes:) its brutally loud when first starting, hence want to see of cold start can be mapped out as i believe its only there to initially warm up the cats? Still love the mad startup noise, but being thoughtful to my Neighbours!!!!

My c63 is catless. Although I haven’t had it done myself I know it can be done. I don’t use mine enough to piss anyone off to be honest.

No another member with the same car said he was unable to get it done

I've just posed the question to a mate of mine (Big Fish) who has a lot of experience with these cars, but I think he's away at the moment as he's not responded.

I've got a feeling that the only way to do it would be to physically disconnect the little by-pass valves from the turbos though will know more when/if he gets back to me. I know that when I first started mine after installing the bigger turbos it was pretty quiet like a warm start, but the valves weren't connected at that time so this is part of the reasoning for my musings above.

Acid at MSL would probably be a good person to give you a definitive answer on this.

Cheers Dave. Yeah I’ve pinged John at BFT, and I’m up at MSL on 14th to have Tq tuned down a tad. Asked Acid and he thinks it’s doable, so together with John I’m sure they’ll sort it. I love the start up, but Fook me it’s LOUD[emoji33][emoji33][emoji33][emoji33][emoji23]

Yeah, mine was pretty noisy when I had it. Weistec down pipes so obviously no cats, I'd also removed the central resonator which didn't help. :)

I also had the rear back boxes removed so you can imagine folks diving for cover when it starts up - LOL:eek::eek:

As an update to this, I've just spoken with the man and he's out today but said he'd get back to me tomorrow, so I'll pass anything of relevance on. :)

I didn’t know this could be done. Miserable neighbour 7 doors down has moaned a few times.

Cheers Dave, appreciate that my man[emoji41][emoji1531][emoji41]

My old neighbour used to have a Honda Civic with a massive exhaust, he often revved the nuts off it every time he left or came back home.

Even that didn’t piss us off! Didn’t sound great either lol, but it’s a car for ****s sake and the sound lasts a few seconds. Not worth getting annoyed over that...

If only it was a V8, now that would make me smile!

Obviously trying to compensate for his inadequate manhood[emoji23][emoji23][emoji1782]

I'm sometimes self-conscious over the cold-start-bark (decatted), particularly on 4am airport runs. It doesn't stop the initial bark, but I put it straight into Drive as soon as it's started and it goes down to the 'normal' rumble

I used to do the same when I was on a contract at Heathrow Airport and leaving at 5;45. However that was BEFORE the De Cat work:wallbash::rolleyes::wallbash:
