Removal of relay

I have a 1993 R129 300SL the light globe check light on the dashboard keeps coming on at random I have replaced the rear number plate globes as this can cause the check globe light to come but it still comes on.
I have been told that it could be a faulty relay I have removed the cover to the relay but I can not pull it out of its socket is there any trick to withdrawing the relay from its socket ?
Can anyone advise ?

I do not want to damage the relay or its housing.
The w124 is the same setup has anyone had this problem or is the relay just stuck ?
Anyone help as it is an anoying fault ?

There are a lot of pins which make it very tight, it takes a firm grip and a pull straight up wards.
There is, I think , a lever on top which has to be pulled out of the way, this lever may assist in the units removal.

Your problem may also be a dirty contact at the bulb holder or the wrong wattage bulb being fitted.

Is yours like number 3 in picture?

No mine is differant configuration it has cylindrical type fuses and the relay for the light faults is in position 2 on the photo.
