Replacement key

Insurance underwriters agreed to pay. No loss of NCB, no excess to pay. Quite a job convincing the claims handler that all the locks did not need changing!
Great result, nice to hear of an insurance company being reasonable.

If only one key is lost, you can find a spare key to use. Of course, if the key is lost, you must go to the manufacturer to deal with it, or you can find a reliable repair shop by yourself, or you can achieve the purpose of changing the key.

Many thanks for your advice As posted W205 keys are main dealer only, they cannot be supplied by anyone else. We are using the spare key and have ordered a replacement from MB.

Quoted £431 for spare key from local dealer w205 C Class. In shock.

I heard about a spare key for a recent Jaguar that cost £890. I would have thought that a fair price for a key programmed to a car would be £150 ish. But they can charge whatever they like; same as nox sensors and adblue tanks.
