Hi I stood on the key, it sometimes opens and closes the car. I cracked it and it's going a bit ok but I need it replaced. Where's the best place I could buy a new one? By the way the car is a c220 2002 . Thanks, mark

It can be done for less!
Only need the EIS to be removed and if you have the old key!
If you are lucky you dont even need to remove the EIS. It depends on models!
Might only the OBD2 connector enough and do the job!

What indeed

As Ian Donkin said, £227 from MB dealer.

You will need to take the V5 + ID (Passport / Driving Licence) + Recent Utility Bill.

Takes about 5 working days for it to arrive pre-programmed, at the dealers.

It might be the continuum transfunctioner ?

key

as I understand it the problem with buying secondhand keys on ebay is that they only work with the vehicle for which they were supplied. However in your situation you might be lucky and be able to swap the hopefully undamaged circuit board into a similar case bought on ebay.

It really is a pain getting one from an MB dealer. Had one fail under warranty and still they required a lot of identification before ordering one even though I was a customer. Have seen several people on ebay offering to repair keys although no experience as to how good they are.

replacement key (not from Merc dealer) is great!!!!

Hi

Thanks for the recommendation to try 'www.ReplacementMercedesKeys'.

I have spent 5 years removing my key blade to open my W210 door and quickly put the IR portion into the ignition to deactivate the alarm. My wife won't drive the car because "the alarm is embarrassing!".

I took a chance at the recommendation on the site, emailed them to arrange when I would arrive at Small Heath Trading Est, (B11 2RJ). I got there and Ben was so polite, tried to fix my old key and I left with a new key, which locks and unlocks my car - YAHOO...and that's just the neighbours!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and I am a genuine customer (who likes to get value for money!).

They also advertise on Ebay, which I would have ignored but I am proof they are genuine and provide a quality service.

Reading through your post you say that 'Ben tried to fix your old key and you left with a new one'. Does that mean he didn't manage to fix the old one? What was the cost of the new one from these guys?

Such info is helpful to others who need to use them. :thumb:

Sorry 'grumpy old git' (doesn't seem right calling you that!),

I only ever got one key with the car, which locked by remote but wouldn't unlock (key is original so probably 10 years old).

I went with the intention of getting a new key anyway (£160 if you go to their site or £30 extra if they travel to you) and then I noticed they offered repairs too (£25). This would give me 2 fully functioning keys. Sadly, after 30mins of trying his best (looked like water damage), it was becoming labour intensive so I was content to have a new key and the original half-operational as my spare. He charged nothing for attempting to repair. All prices include VAT, by the way (car repairs and spares always seem to quote VAT-ex).

The one thing I will say to bear in mind is this: When one of them is doing home visits and the other is busy in their workshop in the middle of a delicate repair, persevere in calling their mobile phones because I could see how difficult it was to do both - they could do with a secretary!!!
