Too many retro fit experts.
With Mercedes Dealers being as helpful as possible (not) and there are quite a few "experts" that have experiences of retro fitting items which people like me need to rely on.
For every postive solution that I hear ie fitting TV, Nokia, CD Player, Comand and Bose you come across a similr number that say "that cant be done" or "leave me a blank cheque" - "sorry your wallet for cash".
So for my ML - so far - The retro fit of the Comand was straight forward and works a treat - there was no optic fibre cables so the CD player could not be connected. After a few calls to MB dealers who said - yes - no - yes - then no to my enquires about a 2004 ML that should already be cabled for D2B - so a number of lost hours hunting for something that was not there.
Optic fibre lead gets fitted next week with GPS roof arial too from a local retro fit company.
I have purchased a TV unit and Bose Unit from ebay and have no reason to believe that they do not work. But again trying to find companies or individuals to retro fit these has been very hit and miss.
I have had an offer to fit the TV - but at £500 seems steep. The Bose seems the one thing that no one has really got to grips with yet -but there must be a simple solution to this - there ususally is. Now I see audiocomp is doing a Nokia kit which is also being advertised by mbenznl on an installation basis - do these companies reply to e-mails? I have had no success yet.
I will continue to try and find the best solutions and hopefully trimmed costs to retro fit these items.
Any further help or pointers - let me know.
