Put a deposit down today on an ML350 Bluetec Sport for the missus as a bit of an early xmas present. Very pleased and she has an awesome spec, APART from the reversing camera!! I managed to retro fit a camera in my old W204 C63 and was wondering if it is the same process in this one (W166?) given that the satnav screen is slightly different etc....

Has anyone fitted one in one of these?

Cannot help with your query, but glad you got one sorted, and with a few toys :)

Abb - indeed mate very chuffed, drove really nice as well and felt smaller on the road than my E63 for some weird reason!

Greenmanlk - they were the first place I looked but £400 for a kit??!! The W204 kit I fitted in my C63 cost no more than £30 and was perfect, I was expecting the sameish cost!

Gotcha thank you! I've spoken to Pete at PMW and he said although he's never done one in an ML he said it won't be complex as mercs use relatively basic tech compared to other cars.

gbjeppm = Thats the sort of thing i'm looking for cheers! I'll get that plumbed in, source a fakra connector and hand it to PMW!!!!

You have 2 choices

a) The factory system as per ComandOnline. This is not "relatively simple" (re Pete at BMW), it needs to connect to the car's CAN network and then be setup with a special alignment tool in order for the camera to generate the grid lines (which are then accurate against the actual car)
b) An aftermarket system, which will be simpler to install as it is just a camera in a special bracket, power, and video sent to the back of the stereo and then the menu enabled. These sometimes come with guidance lines but they are not calibrated to the car, just some extra help when reversing sometimes.

Cheers
Richard
