Retrofit IWC clock & carbon console

Standard clock has a merc symbol on it and the IWC obviously has IWC under the 12 mark

The Merc clock as the numeric 3,6,9,12 the IWC only has numeric 12,6 with some seconds shown in red, looks more classy and sporty at the same time
I prefer the standard clock as it matches in dials in the instrument panel.

So I’ve ordered wood panels for centre console and doors along with clock but not an iwc one. Just didn’t feel like splurging extra. Going to get those installed with a friend and report back as to how it looks but might be a couple of weeks depending on how fast delivery happens

Centre console is dead easy mate, just alot if plugs to unclip

Wood panels, centre console and clock installed. what a massive difference... and don't kill me for a BMW air freshener, I am just too poor now after all the fuel costs :D (in all fairness, I really like the smell but haven't figured out how to fit one without BMW logo all over the place)

Not a fan - sorry. That bright white clock in the middle of the other stuff looks out of place. However kudos for getting it installed.

That post is very helpful, thank you.I am going to do the same. Some say you don’t need to code in the new clock as an accessory others say that for a proper job you need to.My garage says it would be possible to code it if the clock is on the list of Mercedes accessories. Can anyone explain what happens if you don’t do the coding and the other issue for me is disconnecting the airbag light as disconnecting an airbag itself causes warning lights to stay on.
thanks

Hi mate
Glad you found the post helpful, I haven’t coded mine in no side affects but would be nice to get it done..

Does anyone in London/Essex here do it ???

You won’t get a airbag warning message long as you keep the ignition off and only put the ignition on when the job is complete, I have a diagnostic tool that you can use if you feel to drive to London/Essex

Thanks for your help and kind offer.I’m a good distance away but if I’m heading your way I will let you know.

Hi OP. Where did you purchase the Retrofit loom from?

I suggest you get a decent T Tap connector too so you don’t need to cut any cables 👍🏼

I bought a loom from Braybrooks and fitted it a few weeks ago April 2023.It does not now require T connectors or soldering. It is a plug in item so on my car (AMG C63 W205) the plug goes into the back of the switch above the dash light switch.Red/white, brown and yellow wires.Braybrooks colours are red, brown and yellow .The plug that is removed from the socket is then plugged into the new Braybrooks loom.I have written detailed instructions but not annotated photos yet, but you are welcome to them as add in some tips.

Here is photo of plug in question from behind dash by light switch. You can’t get the data card updated and the car recoded by Mercedes unless you buy new parts from them.I bought used console with clock and swapped out all controls from my car (except the one housing the clock and the air bag light). All seems to work fine. The clock integrates with the digital clock in the car automatically and sets itself - bit scary how complex these cars are.

It’s a fiddly job so just need to go slowly and not rush it.

Was eBay grazing last night and found a IWC clock for cheap. Looking for a dark Oak centre console which may take a while as it looks like most now have the “scene” tax applied
