Hi

A friend has decided to fit a Comand 2.0 to his 1999 CLK after seeing my Comand in my ML. Is there a guide retro fitting guide for fitting a Comand to a CLK?

If not can anyone offer any advice.

Does the CLK have CAN-BUS at the stereo?

Does the CLK have the VSS wire at the stereo?

Thanks

HOWTO: Install COMAND in a pre-facelift W208 CLK coupé (by Flyer)

HOWTO: Install COMAND in a facelift W208 CLK Cabriolet (by Alfie)

For the purposes of COMAND, facelift yes, pre-facelift no.

pre-facelift yes, facelift models may depend on options but the speed pulse is available in the footwell.

Theres also my, more general (i.e covers different vehicles, but has many less pictures), COMAND retrofit document at

Its old (I think I was one of the early writers of this stuff), but i've done a bit of a revamp recently.

I strongly suggest buying a COMAND with part number starting A208 540 xx xx - they were originally designed for the CLK, and it saves you from purchasing the approx. £100 CANbus eliminator device. Also, the gyro sensor angle will be correct, and it will just be easier. Another thing is that you can purchase a little converter loom from megacomm or audiocomp to convert from the C plug (that will be in the car, for the standard radio) to the C1/C2 plugs for COMAND - making fitting even more simple. There is one on ebay at the moment.

Cheers

Richard
