Retrofitting the SLS Magcode trickle charger

Merc parts are no longer available. Id buy the 15a sockets and fuse at 10a because charger won’t use more than 10a. In fact my charger has a 7.5a fuse
Thanks for the MagSafe link, I shall buy some for my SL as I forgot to disconnect it once and had to rebuild the connectors !!

I use a CETEK charger, connected with CTEK leads to both batteries on my SL & Discovery 4.

To avoid driving away without disconnecting I have a laminated A4 sheet warning the charger is connected. This is stored with the charger extension lead & left on the drivers seat when connected. Works for me.

I am about to connect a BM2 Bluetooth 4.0 12V Battery Monitor/Tester to each battery - £17.86 from Amazon.

I have the Magcode charger on the Bentley, which wasn't working when i bought the car and was replaced under Warranty. It is a very convenient way of charging your battery especially as it charges both batteries

I did drive off with it connected the other day and thank goodness it wasn't attached like my eyelet CTEK charger on the S-Class

Richard, did you ever get this hooked up in your SL? I need to pull my finger out and get the Magcode connection sorted in my cars.

Sadly I haven’t as I would like to put the mag bit externally so when I drive off without remembering it disconnects!! Aston Martin put it next to the boot opening handle but that’s a pain on a SL …

I just stick a cloth through the drivers door handle to remind myself that the Ctek is still connected. Cheap and works well.......

I think the towing eye cover might be ideal. Quick and easy to replace if needs be.
