Reverse assist passenger mirror dip

When I reverse my passenger side mirror used to dip down so I can see the road, Just recently it goes up instead of down
In other its back to front.... whats going on??? The cluster is configured for it to dip. I have turned it off and then back on but it still does it.... Any ideas????

Sounds like it needs resyncing. It is thinking it is already as far down as it can go when you engage reverse and it powering it the other way.

No idea how to do it though , but we both know a man who will ....

i have almost the same problem my mirror does not dip down far enough just tilts closer to door but not down,also do not fold in when i turn engine off eventhough its set to do so

Whilst in reverse gear adjust the mirror to the desire position.

Make sure that the vehicle is stationary and that the key is in position 2 in the ignition lock.

Press button

for the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side.

Use adjustment button

to adjust the exterior mirror to a position which allows you to see the rear wheel and the kerb.

Press memory button M

.

Press one of the arrows on adjustment button

within three seconds.
The parking position is stored if the exterior mirror does not move.

If the mirror moves out of position, repeat the steps. You can adjust the exterior mirror again after storing the setting.

i tried with engine on and off but it still does not go all the way down. When i push arrow down the mirror stayes still but if i pushed any other arrows mirror moves-my shifter was in reverse position
any other idea??

You don't need to be in reverse. That said I think the problem is with the mirror. It seems it is already at the limit of travel downwards.

You could try by hand gently easing it back up?

The mirror can actually tilt much lower when i adjust it but after i do and then turn engine on and put toreverse it just tilts about a half way.it also moves briefly--(jiggles) at one place like it wants to move but it does not.i tried even with shifter in park position.

that caught me out !
must have the passenger mirror selected to work.
Also a good tip is , if reversing in a straight line, rather than parking itis goot to de-select the passenger mirror for a 'normal' view

I'm in the UK, don't worry your spelling is better than some native Brits!

I have checked a US owners manual and the instructions are the same as for UK cars

What catches people out is the last instruction, to press the mirror adjustment again within 3sec. If the mirror moves the memory setting hasn't been stored and you have to repeat the whole thing!

Perhaps the adjuster needs a little lubrication? Try folding the mirror and spraying some PTFE dry lube into the rear of the housing (don't go mad, you don't want to flood the mech!)

BTW don't forget to select the left mirror at the mirror control switch.

Mine only works if the switch is selected.

allright i forgot you drive on the left side of the road we here in usa on the right a little detail so on my side i must select right mirror.but it still does not tilt all the way. a friend told me today to disconect battery i will try it maybe tommorow if i ahve time.my mirrors dont even fold in after i turn engine off even it is preselected
i also have problem with tape player :it keeps openning doors and than it closes and than open every 3 seconds.when i put tape in it will play it for 3 sec/then eject it and on a display writes --tape error--so the tape door is open and i cannot see the display to set navigation .....bla bla bla...any ideas???
anyways thank you all for not giving up on me and for your help
