Reverse camera loses image after a few seconds

I just installed an aftermarket reverse camera into my 2013 c250 cdi Amg sport. The camera shows a clear image for a few seconds then the image disappears and the screen goes black. The car has Comand and is ntg 4.5. I don,t understand why the image just disappears even though the car is still in reverse gear. I wired the positive to the reversing light wire with a connector and the earth into the same earth as the fuse box. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Are there just the two wires to the camera?
If you put a test light on the reverse wire at the cam does it stay live in reverse?
What are you using to display - a dedicated display or the comand screen?

Hi thanks for your reply. Yes there are two wires to the camera. I did test the reverse wire before and it was fine but I haven,t tested it once the screen goes black so I,ll do that today. THe display is on the comand screen and is really goos for a couple of seconds before going black. I,ll try the test once the screen goes black.

I know that comand has to be coded to display the reverse cam. Although it’s showing for a second it could be that.

Thanks for that. From what I read, with ntg4.5 it shouldn,t need to be programmed but maybe it does. As you say, that could explain why the image disappears quickly.
I have now tested the camera with reverse gear and it does still show 11.7v when the image becomes black. Maybe that voltage isn,t sufficient?

I would say that is definitely enough voltage 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for that. I,m stumped!
