Hi all,

Looking for any help, I have a Mercedes vito w447 and have ran an aftermarket reverse camera along the van etc. But I'm stuck with what light wire is my reverse (attached pic of passenger rear tail light connector). The instructions say connect red to the reverse connector and black to ground. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Put the black lead of a multi-meter to ground and , in turn, the red lead into each of the plug wires whilst someone puts it in / out of reverse and see what one gives you the 12V you require.

If the reverse image has lines when the engine is running you may need to put the camera supply through a relay to get a "clean" supply.

I penetrated the insulation with a needle till I found 12 volts when in reverse.
On my 639 it is the grey / black at the n/s cluster.

Hi Thebigtasty. Did you solve this issue?

I have replaced the head unit in my 2016 Vito with a pioneer avic 9880dab stereo. I have also added an aftermarket reverse camera (vehicle specific it replaced the tailgate handle).

I took the trigger feed for the camera from the blue/white wire that runs down the passenger ‘A’ pillar. The connections have been checked and have been neatly soldered. The issue I am having is the camera intermittently triggers. The RCA for the camera works fine meaning if I access the camera view I can set the head unit so I can see the camera view constantly. The issues is solely with the trigger.

An auto electrician has suggesting disconnecting the trigger wire from the A pillar feed and running a cable direct from the reverse lamp similar to what you were looking at doing.

Could you let me know what worked for you? Or if anyone else has any suggestions or advice please let me know.
