Road trip

I am looking at the idea of doing some driving through Europe over the summer from the U.K. Any one got any good suggestions of routes/places to go?!

Depends what you like and how far you want to go

Options are..

1. UK to Stuttgart and visit of Mercedes and Porsche Museums followed up by few days in Baden-Baden and Black Forest. You will have the chance for some good German motorway driving with no speed limits and some great driving up in the Black Forest (B500)
2. Drive to South France and then do the French riviera followed by the Italian riviera. Then you can go North Italy, cross to Switzerland and then back to France and then back to the UK. You can have a nice stop over to Burgundy and enjoy some nice Reds or Whites both of them are fantastic


I am sure others will have some other suggestions. By the way what car are you planning to take and who are you taking with you

Mrmjoet, you have to be more specific. What do you like to do and what would you like to see in particular. There's so many interesting places and things to see.

I can propose Romantic Road, German and Swiss Alps but I don't know what you like.

Mercedes and Porsche Museums are interesting and I recommend them. I did BMW Museum and Factory Tour in Munich, too. Avoid motorway between Stuttgart and Munich as there are extensive roadworks. Not sure when they're going to be finished.

Thanks for the advice guys! I will be driving my C class coupe and going with my women!! I am well into my rock climbing and mountain biking along with any outdoor activity. Not too concerned about doing a great deal of that unless I come across it. I do want to drive a little in Germany and also see some great landscape, keeping away from main cities too really. Just want to drive on some exciting roads!! I haven't had much of a look into the options yet but you given me somewhere to start!!

We went to what was old East Germany and the northern half of the Czech Republic last summer....stunning and as cheap as chips. If you're looking on Google, find Dresden and then go south along the river Elbe. You wont regret it.
