S 350 BRABUS

Got offered this today px for my c63
Why do people do this to a car
Tread carefully. Not convinced that there’s anything genuinely Brabus about that car.

Model name game is reasonably string though: Mercedes-Benz S Class 3.0 S350Ld V6 AMG Line (Executive, Premium) G-Tronic+.

Shame it’s not the Premium Plus, nor the 125 Navi. Also a home goal, the vendor should mention that it’s powered by Brabus. Novice.

It was meant as why do people ruin an S class with all that crap to try and fail to make it look like something it isn't then put a price tag of £33k the guys on drug's 🤣

Funny you should say that: browsing the advert on my phone I got to photo #25 and thought blimey, a Brabus built in weed grinder set on the rear armrest

Brabus brakes have certainly got smaller than I remember 😂

As a plus point, it's nice that the exhaust "replicates a V8 or V12" so the world doesn't have to know you went with the Joe-pinch penny option and suckle at the devil's black teet.

To be fair its had a fair few quid spent on it with genuine Brabus parts + a remap at Bob Forstner:

That’s good to see, and from a reputable source. It’s an unusual combination for a car with genuine Brabus bits, but it’s a map, exhaust and badges which would be common for other marques/tuners.

Each to their own, but 90 quids for a badge on the engine?
Makes Beemer parts look cheap

Is there such thing a a Genuine BRABUS really though?.....its not like buying an AMG.....they are all standard models with varying levels of BRABUS kits a packages. I know someone with a BRABUS 850 in SADCASE....so basically a 5.5TT bored out to 6.0 etc.....but on the VIN it was originally CLS 350 body....but it is the real deal and he's known of the car since it was new. I don't really understand how BRABUS works.

CLS 350 5.5TT ?
As far as i understand they usally convert the AMG models

Thats what I thought....and everything about it looks CLS63 to my eyes but its not easy to tell as it had the full BRABUS diamond stitch leather interior (a bit OTT to me....but its not my car).......maybe a VIN error.

The bloke refers to it as an "S350Ld".

There’s definitely genuine Brabus parts but you can pick and choose which you buy. Those can be purchased through a Brabus dealer, and fitted by them too.

I say genuine parts because there are parts which are either (1) replicas with a fake badge, (2) replicas without a badge at all, and (3) any old part with a Brabus badge!

Many consider a “real” Brabus to be a fully converted car at the factory, however fairly substantial conversions are completed by their dealers (of with Bob Forstner is one).

The 850 models don’t usually have an engine transplant, they usually involved a substantial rework of the engine installed by Mercedes on the production line.

It’s not inconceivable though that a different engine could have been transplanted into a car which had a smaller engine from the factory (but supplied new).

This used to be the case when dropping engines into the car which would never have come from the factory with that particular engine configuration.

That’s always been unusual but it’s more unusual now because the V8s can match the V12 models, and so even the most special “Rocket” models use V8s now.

Brabus are (for the past few years) a proper registered manufacturer in Germany, like Ruf.

So their full on models are actually Brabus and not Mercedes as per the legislation and documentation.
