S205/7G+ transmission-gear selector not working 1st on cold start

Over the past few months with increasing frequency, on cold/1st start or when the car has been left several hours, when I select D or R (with foot firmly on the brake pedal), gear is not selecting plus a warning of parking-brake still engaged on the dash displays - almost like false Neutral. Yesterday I had it where I was trying to select Reverse and after 5 attempts I ended up switching off/on to get R to work.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?
There may not be a dipstick though!

Electrical problems (if this is one) can also be caused by failing battery.

Your best option is to take the car to a Mercedes Specialist and have the car scanned for faults.

7 speed? no dip stick.

You can’t check the ATF level on this gear box! The car is booked in with MB as under approved/used warranty but so far scanning with iCarsoft shows no fault codes....
