I've just bought a boot liner for my 211 estate from ebay, checking the advertised criteria for fitment. It doesn't fit! My car has COMAND, with the nav disc reader in the n/s/r of the car, enclosed in its own compartment, with no recesses on the floor space either side. Is this standard, or do some estates have a recess further forward of the nav reader? I've been told I ordered incorrectly! TIA

There are at 3 different fittings on the 211's there is the information I got when I ordered mine.

IMPORTANT NOTES MERCEDES “E Class” Estate - Model 2003 - 2010
There are 3 different boot shapes for the E Class - Prior to manufacture of your order we need to know which shape applies to your vehicle. Please identify your vehicle from the photo’s be-low and then select the correct Shape for your order in the “ATTENTION TO DETAIL” section on the E Class Web Page.
STORAGE BOX
You may have a STORAGE BOX location behind row 2 seats (the box is shown in Shape 2 & 3 photo’s below). We recommend that the box is REMOVED FROM the vehicle when your HatchBag Bootliner is fitted. We do manufacture a HatchBag Bootliner that does allow the Storage Box to be fitted in the vehicle AFTER fitting. If you want to ORDER this option please CALL 0800 169 2464 (+44 151 637 2323 from outside the UK) - there is additional charge of £18.50.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTO’s SHOW A “5 Seat” E Class - 7 Seat Vehicles have the same SHAPE variations.

I would have thought an estate without Comand would have a recess (just like the saloons), I think you probably have ordered incorrectly.

MD5 do you also have Harman Kardon? I am not sure but I believe it is installed in the drivers side so could account for no recess.

Thanks for the link, SavMan. Mine is as no 3 in their info, with the COMAND concealed behind the n/s panelling, and no recesses. The wording in this ad made it sound suitable to me. It's a cheap one to rest the father in law's wheelchair on this weekend, with the storage box in situ. Pretty sure I don't have HK.

What do you mean by 'Mine is as no 3 in their info'??

Take a pic.

This liner cost me £30 and I fail to see what other liners costing up to £100 could offer in value over this unit to be honest.

Mines a rectangular unit as I have comand on the nearside and a cargo net on the offside of the boot.

Don't bother with the carpeted centre bit as it look rubbish and makes the liner more difficult to wipe over.

The 25mm liquid retaing lip all the way round is a great idea for containg spillages and rainwater of stowed gear.

It depends on what you transport, I bought one from hatchbag.co.uk as it is a complete boot liner not just a floor with raised sides. The reason for this is that I have 3 very active dogs that after exercise are many times wet and covered in mud and all sorts. Even when they are not wet they are normally dripping saliva after a strenuous workout and hair would get embedded in the sides and rear of the seat as well as the tailgate area. Having a complete liner that is tailor made (sides, tailgate, and rear) and a "Safe-D-Guard" clear dog guard keeps everything contained in a wipe easy zone.

My previous S211 had a netted recess - very useful.

This one has HK, which I suspect is the same as your COMAND based trim - no recess, not very useful.

I bought some heavy duty cord carpet and cut my own, with a 150mm "lip" to be folded out to cover the painted bumper in the event of loading/unloading something that may mark the paint.

Very cheap, very durable, very easy to clean.

Thanks for the replies, Guys.

Savman, good thinking for the full covering where your dogs are concerned. I notice you have a 55AMG, so I assume this is for shock absorbtion, and nothing to do with looking after the upholstery?:D:rock:

I must admit, I haven't used the 211 much since I bought it a few months back, and the mat was an impulse purchase, being unfamiliar with the boot space. The wording confusingly states at some point that the pics are generic, so I ordered by the described criteria, and when it stated no left ear, I assumed that the ear shown in the first pic wouldn't be there, but it was in fact the actual mat. Anyway, they are replacing the mat for me, having sent mine back, and I have to pay a second postage charge to them. Annoying, as there is another seller not charging postage at all, but hey ho (or should I be screaming I'M NOT HAPPY - CHEATS etc?!)!:o

On a positive note, we went to the in-laws and beyond for Easter, and waiting for me was the Atlantis 900 roofbox I'd bought, also from ebay. The seller had had it professionally painted to match his Vito, then realised it was too much effort to get on roof regularly, so never really used it, and it's a perfect match for mine! Off we went, five up, wheelchair in the back on some old mats and luggage on top!

I think the rules regarding distance selling (i.e. buying from t'interweb) go something like this:

You have seven working days from receipt of goods to decide you don't want them. You can within this time return the goods (in unused condition) for a full refund (including any postage you paid to have the goods sent to you), although you must pay for the return postage.

If the goods are faulty or not as described (i.e. the seller sent you the wrong item), you can also claim the return postage from the seller.

Thanks Daz. When I contacted them before Easter they said that I had ordered it incorrectly, although the ad, to me, is a bit ambiguous, and I can see how it could be improved upon. I put this to them, so they paid for my return carriage, which I thought was fair enough. I couldn't be bothered arguing for the sake of the additional postage if it was my mistake. Was it?!

You are entitled to a full refund 'less' any postage paid under the distance selling rules.

When you take something back to John Lewis do you ask them to pay your fuel and car park?
;)
