Same ole W03 probs - newbie help

Exactly same split in mines, glad you got it for decent money and hopefully get everything sorted, once there running right its happy days

had very similar probs with my c220cdi
if theres a fault on engine especially the glowplugs the car wont self re gen
this causes a build up in the cat/dpf/both as the car tries to re gen it injects extra fuel to raise the temps.this fuel goes unused and dumps into the oil.
drop some oil and see if it smells of derv,if so its dpf time
leave it at your peril the cat/turbo and dpf will all be under threat
do the glowplugs and hope it will do a forced re gen

id just got my car alas too late
ive got all of the above probs

Just to clarify. My glow plug light doesn't stay on any more. 1 glow plug was faulty and all 4 have been changed and i never ever had a problem with it starting or charging. Starts every time on the button 1st time. I have no more coolant errors as this was down to a stuck sensor and small leak at a hose. I have NO ESP fault and it works perfectly. Nothing wrong with my rev counter and never was and also have no problem with cooling or interior heating or fans. All work as they should. Another point is my car has NEVER ran really lumpy. I dont have a blocked DPF or any symptoms or codes to indicate there is anything wrong with mine either. Appreciate your input bud but in this case your own past problems are not related to mine or this post apart from the split hose. That was all that was the problem with the PO299 code I had and it is now gone. :thumb:

Wooshing noise and loss of power on mines was down to split in turbo pipe, when I removed it there was a massive spilt about 4" long, this could not be seen with it in place.

Also on mines I was getting problems with glow plug light staying on, errors for coolant level, errors for ESP faulty visit work shop, no rev counter, fans come on straight away, and it ran really lumpy.

Ended up changing the ECU, not cheap.

I would say get it on a proper star machine and codes read, code readers are ok but to get accurate valves of what is going on needs a propper diagnostic check.

Also my DPF was blocked and not regenerating dispite trying to force it, this was down to engine not reaching temp which was a result of faulty stat.

Right dodgey dealer I bought it from but thats another story.....

Ok final post regarding this. when new hose came . whilst fitting it , decided to fit the original MAF sensor and the original AIR TEMP SENSOR aswell and see whats what , clearing codes then checking it . So fitted hose and original 2 parts back. All fault codes gone. Nothing. All good. Full boost, 299 gone no wooshing noise and 113 gone too. no coolant error after tightening up clip on radiator hoose. no rear number plate error after cleaning up the lamp assembly with switch cleaner. Been driving it for 2 days now. All perfect and good. No codes, no issues and no engine light. So the faults on the car causing it to go into limp mode and the engine light to constantly come on and stay on were as follows:
RIP IN TURBO BOOST INTAKE HOSE (po299)
FAULTY PEDAL POSITION SENSOR ((po123, (po471 - false positive)
cluster errors - check coolant level (tightened up a clip on bottom radiator hose)
- rear right number plate light faulty (cleaned inner terminals with switch cleaner)
the 244 error was a false positive cause by the 299 which was cutting out the turbo coz of the split hose which in turn was also limiting the actuator which kicks out the 244 error.

CAR NOW RUNNING PERFECTLY NO ERRORS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE IN THIS FORUM WHO HELPED. ALSO THANK YOU TO THE PREVIOUS THREADS CONCERNING ADVICE TO DO WITH THE FAULTS I HAD. A BIG THANK YOU TO THE GUYS WHO ACTUALLY SUGGESTED PUTING SOME BASIC ORIGINAL COMPONENTS BACK IN ASWELL ( the maf sensor and the air intake sensor )WHICH DID TURN OUT THAT THEY WERE OK AFTER REPLACING THE MAIN THINGS THAT WERE ACTUALLY FAULTY. GREAT FORUM. CAN LOCK THIS THREAD NOW. CHEERS. :-)

This thread caught my eye as the W03 is a very rare car from the mid 1920's and surviving examples now worth millions :)
