Im looking at a C32 at the weekend.
It has Sat/Nav, does this mean it has Command??? and thus should have the jack plug in the glove box for Line-in???

Sat nav is usually command, not sure on the jack socket though.

They do a less fancy sat nav but cant see that being on a c32.

My wifes 203 has command etc but the glovebox is full of cd changer,

Cheers, it's a pet hate of mine when people call it Command or COMMAND.

In a W203 COMAND is Sat Nav. If factory fitted you should have the Aux-In connector in the glove box. It's not that easy to spot, I didn't realise we had it in our W203, when I took it to Braybrooks to have a CD Changer fitted after buying the car I asked them to install the Aux In whilst the car was with them, they showed me that I already had it! :o

The jackplug socket does a great impression of a fixing, so you easily miss it unless you're expecting to see it.

When you look at the glovebox when open, there are two upper compartments:
RHS is the CD autochanger.
LHS is a small opening in which you can stack a few CD cases.

You need to look on the left hand side of the small opening for the jackplug socket.

You can buy an iPod holder that fits in the small opening which keeps your iPod snug:

Yeah, that's it, doesn't look obvious what it is at first glance does it!

Expensive to retro fit and old technology so if its functionality you are after then better to look elsewhere. but it does look good. Was in a mates alfa wich has old sat nav etc like something out of the Ark !

As we're being super picky, the doofangle in the glove box is a jack socket.

so is the COMAND Sat nav system no good then i take it??

If it was just a satnav, then there are better devices available. However, COMAND is more than that. It is also a radio andCD/DVD player depending on which version you have. Also depending on version and fitted kit, it can also 'take over' your phone and transfer the use of the phone to the COMAND unit. It can also accept a TV tuner input. It also gives simplified navigation information in the instrument cluster, which until you've had it, you don't quite appreciate how good that is.

It depends on what you expect. It's never going to compare to a state-of-the-art TomTom etc, since you can replace the TomTom every year, with the next state-of-the-art.
The three gripes I have with mine are:
4 character postcodes when entering a new destination - meaning that 'you have reached your destination' when still some distance away;
Thoroughly Teutonic user interface for entering locations by address - enter the town first, then the road. Err, which town is this village in?
No speed cameras as POI (but petrol stations and M-B dealers are).

On the plus side, it's integrated, so it looks nice, instructions appear in the instrument cluster, the instructions are usually clear, dynamic routing with TMC usually avoids the worst of the trunk & motorway jams. And if the destination is entered using the 'map' method, it'll take you right to the door.
Ian.

And my thanks to Lynall. Now I realise I have a jack socket, I'm off to resurrect the old CD Walkman to have a play.

Thanks for that, will have to wait and see what is fitted i suppose.
Any ID numbers to look for?
It is phone ready in the armrest.

Mine is phone ready holder etc, my mobile is old but the one that fits the W210 is veeerrryyy old:D

Not seen phone kit on 203 but then i have never looked.

Comand nav is okay but not a patch on tt, tt postcode will get you to the door with only a few clicks of the touch screen, comand hard work to load up though works okay when loaded and will take you to house number so not to sad.
