Is there anyone who can advise me on updating my sat nav.
I currently have version 4.1.
I have spoken to command online and it's priced around £150 for the latest version.
My question is,does this price seem the norm.
The person I spoke to did say putting cheaper versions in could burn out the stylus.
Thx Tim

Comand Online will sell you a genuine disc. OK its not cheap, but getting a cheaper and possibly counterfeit disc from elsewhere isn't worth the risk IMO.

You can get a genuine disc on Ebay but you have to be careful, the going price is around £80,but you need to know what disc you need, there is a list of what one you need on here somewhere, for my S320 I needed the box with the green line on it,having bought it my sat nav now has 2014-15 maps on it

A cheap copy wont burn out the laser but it will shorten the life of the unit as copies tend to require many more re-reads to get the data. This is evidenced by frequent messages saying ' Insert DVD' when the disk is in fact in there already. The Navigation unit will also run much hotter as the motor speeds up and slows down more frequently trying to read the data.

My advice to anyone who would rather not buy the latest disk is to buy a slightly older one but make sure it is genuine.

I will back that point made, I used to get the insert DVD message as the previous owner used a fake sat nav disc. I have now replaced the disc with a genuine one from Comand and no more messages.
