150% scam with all the hallmarks:

Offering a car for a small % of its value

The bid is now double the buy it now, yet the 'seller' is still offering at this price

Saying contact me at XYZ email address - stating don't contact via ebay

Brand new account holder

I reported this to ebay and they have done NOTHING

The contact me at [email protected] is a sure fire indication of a scam...

Ebay are only harming their own business by ingnoring tipoffs of scams...

Its now been removed, well done. These scammers drive you crazy:

I still don't understand why these adverts are allowed? :) They are in clear breach of the codes which they lay down. I bet they collect the monies from the advert even they they are fully aware it is a con?

How difficult can it be to write software that picks up the phone me on....... type wording on any advert? Surely all correspondance regarding purchase should be done through the Ebay net?

John the curious

You mean exactly like the bit of code that tips eBay off when you allow your buyers to pay you via Google Checkout?

Well, look at it this way; adverts like that make eBay money. They still collect the revenue if they have any form of credit card "attached" to it.

Google Checkout? Now that is a big no-no... You wouldn't want eBay to lose the revenue from paypal, would you?

It took them ages to remove it.

That's plenty of time for several people to have paid the deposit for this car up front to secure it!

It was still on there 3 days after I reported it.

They must work on the assumption, that hopefully it wont be spotted, and some poor cap gets stitched up.
