sec 500 problems

well where do I start I have a w126 sec 500 that is completely custom and whilst I have sorted the body work im no mechanic and the car has been sitting for about 6 years now I have had it running but its got hot and blow the top hose it also ticks over fast the rad was shoot so ordered a new one but its 5mm bigger than the one I took out can't get it to fit and the new thermostat seems wrong any help just general stuff about these cars would be good

Radiators do get blocked. What year is the car? Idle speed wrong is very common. Could be the idle control relay, or the idle air valve needs cleaning it replacing.

would have to trailer it there but as soon as its on the road that's where its heading he is a massive help. ordered a new rad but where is the best place to buy parts from say gaskets and stuff

If you read the 'problem areas' section of the buyers guide it notes that the radiator is a known weak spot and gives the reasons why!
