Sec widebody

Looks lovely but it's a big punt without getting to see it first.

25 years in the African sun will have taken their toll unless it was garaged all the time, leaving faded trim and cracked vinyl/plastics. There's also not the level of specialist workshops that we have here, so it would be interesting to see who's been looking after it and what work has been done.

That's not daft money at all for a cosmetic widebody if it's even half decent.

You only need to ask Jay what it cost to build his.

Add that it's RHD and originally a UK car it has more going for it that most for a potential UK owner.

the guys really gone to town on the write up!! douchebag

It will all be dependent on the condition and the service history. However it is a rare car an original widebody in RHD too.

If it is lying in SA you will have to ship it and pay import duty (10%) and Vat (20%) on the cost of the vehicle including shipping and other expenses. So if sold at £12500 you could easily have a further £5,500 to pay (assuming £1k shipping).

If it was originally a UK car though, is there still VAT to pay? I am sure i heard that if you could prove it was then exempt from VAT

If you can demonstrate UK VAT was paid (and not refunded) at the time, yes.

I'd need to be pretty convinced by the evidence though before parting with my money, the assurance of a seller would not cut the mustard!

Seller is in the UK in Scotland (Larkhall?) also there are inspection companies you can retain to view the vehicle, your chosen shipping company/freight forwarder would be able to recommend one.

VAT would be payable on import regardless of previous VAT status.
Nice looking car, surely worth the owner importing it to the UK where buyers could actually view it?

Many of the lines are off... typical of original Stratton conversions...

Nice car but these need to be seen close up. These rot badly where the rear flares attach... The write up does not inspire one to buy blind!

In terms of value, even if it does need work, its got to be 20K+ for an original AMG conversion.
