seperating shell from W124 wing mirror

hi

does anyone know how to remove the colour-coded shell from the hinged part of a W124 passenger side wing mirror?

i want to swap over the spring part with a spare I have but i want to retain the body coloured parts.

What a coincidence, I did this just two days ago. The only problem is I have no idea what finally worked, I pushed, I pulled, I got bo**ocked for using the wife's new spatula, but eventually the two plastic parts parted company and I was left with the alloy shell which I sand blasted and re-painted. Sorry I cannot help but I can tell you it goes back together very easily!
