Just asked my local dealer for a quote for "B" service and anything else that they could tell was needed. They came back and said that - according to their records my car needed "B" service, new plugs (there will be a few of them!!) and a new air filter - all for the reasonable sum of £969. That includes free coffee in their lounge while I sit around and wait. Alternatively they can collect and deliver -- making a total of £999 (whatever happened to the 0.99p???) - I guess I can still have a free coffee....

Service is not due for another 2000 miles - would I be correct in assuming I'm being taken for a mug here or is that a fair price??

Not had an MB for a while - and never an AMG so it may be fair, but seems excessive.

How old is your CLK?

I have only just purchased my first AMG so don't have first hand experience but looking at the last bill the previous owner paid for B service with plugs and belt changes it was a similar value. That said unless you feel the need to have a MB stamp you normally find a good indie will give a far better service and for the most part more experienced.

To be honest mate, that looks like a good price from MB main dealer.

They quoted me about £1300 for a service B on my C55. That was MB in Edinburgh.

I 2nd that. Olly is a really nice guy, and I would never pay the spanner monkeys as MB the prices they ask!! They are no better than the usual mechanics from any corner garage, they just charge over £100 an hour labour for some unknown reason.

MB Specialists such as Prestige will stamp your service history with a nice Mercedes Specialist Stamp making it just as credible as any other stamp placed in your book. Give them (or any other specialist mentioned on this forum of course) a ring and see if there is a price difference.

Please tell us which dealer so we can avoid this particular one.

Why would you avoid it?? That is a fair main dealer price for an AMG. Where of course they hike the prices because of them three letters.

Not saying i would pay it though, but not a bad price.

So an oil change, air filter change and 16 plugs for 969! Bargain!

Any indie would be half that at least.

I would presume that is not the whole list.......

If it is i agree its excessive, but all main dealers are. Its not like this is breaking news.

My price included ATF, Diff oil etc.

Plugs (16) £180 to change inc plugs. B Service £301 inc of gearbox atf change, brake pads, rear dif and safety check. Grand total of £481 plus vat. Your dealer does have to support his glass palace though, so I guess the extra £500 goes towards this

give me a pm buddy may be able to help ?
in berkshire

merc tech :)

Is your company name 'Merc Tech' or are you saying you are a Merc technician?

Just that my local inde used to be called Merc Tech but after MB got onto him - he had to change it...
