Service list items

Mine had a B last time and is showing A3, Was told the gearbox needed doing last year as to when the previous owner had it done. I did the brake fluid as well given that I'd had the car for nearly 3yrs. :)

If the ATF and brake fluid don't need doing, what you're left with is cabin filter, air filter, and fuel filter.

And, of course, the engine oil and filter plus the checks.

Was that a “7+ year value service “?

My understanding that dealer's 'value" services for older cars (across all marques) generally achieve the price reduction via the combination of (a) lower labour rates and margin on parts, on the prmise that owners of older cars are unlikely to pay the full price, and some revenue is better than no revenue, (b) carrying only miminal checks, thus saving techs' time, (c) not including anything other than engine oil and filter, even if the manufacturer's service schedule requires it, and (d) not including Mobilo cover, which is a cost between the dealership and MB UK.

In essence, the dealers are competing for business against the likes of KwikFit or Halfords.

BTW, A3 is Service A plus air filter filter and fuel filter, so either the car has some services not in the correct sequence (e.g. skipped service, or additional service due to high mileage, etc), or the services may have not been correctly updated on the car when done.
Missed this, good point

I've never had Mobilio cover, I get my breakdown on Cofused for £38 National cover, so this type of service is ideal. I can do air and pollen myself, so yes please

Assuming thar your car was serviced according to the manufacturer's service schedule up to now, and assuming that it didn't do more than 15.5k miles in any given year, this is what the car's service history should look like:

2013 - Service A

2014 - Service B, brake fluid

2015 - Service A, pano roof lube (if fitted)

2016 - Service B, brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter

2017 - Service A, ATF & Filter (if auto)

2018 - Service B, brake fluid, pano roof (if fitted)

2019 - Service A

2020 - Service B, brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter

2021 - Service A, pano roof lube (if fitted)

2022 - Service B, brake fluid, ATF & filter (if auto)

2023 - Service A

This year:

2024 - Service B, brake fluid, air filter, fuel filter, pano roof lube (if fitted)

In the coming years, the following will be due:

2025 - Service B, brake fluid,

2026 - Service A, ATF & filter (if auto)

2027 - Service B, brake fluid, pano roof lube (if fitted), engine coolant change
This can't be right. B services in 2024 (correct) and 2025? Surely it's 2025 Service A; 2026 Service B; 2027 Service A? I don't know what extra work at those services but it makes more sense to have the ATF change during a more major B service.

Also, my C350 service (B7) in June this year included spark plug replacement.

You are correct, of course.

It should read:

2025 - Service A

2026 - Service B, brake fluid, ATF & filter (if auto)

2027 - Service A, pano roof lube (if fitted), engine coolant change

Book it via their online chat option, nice and easy.
Mercedes Cardiff don't offer anything like that, cheapest option is £199, so I shall continue my search here with my local garages. Get the oil done and an inspection, go from there. Shame as it would have been a good option if it was offered.

What was included? That’s jolly reasonable.

Cheers, no one mentioned fuel filters...

Basic oil and filter, no inspection, nothing.
It would be unusual for a main dealer to quote for a basic A service with no additional items. It can happen but additional items are due on most services. Was it an A service, B service or something else?

Pop your details in here and post a screenshot of what it says is actually due based upon the schedule.

I asked about if they did a 7yr + value service as a few mentioned further back, the standard price was in the region of £600, that was the best they could offer. If I wanted the air filter, it was £98, cabin filter, £120 and so on

They are quoting £951 for service, oil, air and fuel, brake fluid and gearbox (which I had done by the indie last year.

Take out the gearbox and brake fluid, £515, so I called them (as recommended), they offered basic oil change, no inspection, £199, if I use their quote and remove air and fuel, £255.

So I'll be sticking to local, doing the air and fuel myself, change the cabin on too while I'm in there

So £199 was a value service then.
