I have a 1999 E300 TD Elegance - I am about to get my car serviced by the local garage, which is a small one man business who is not an MB specialist. Does anybody know where I can get a schedule of work that should be carried out for a A type service? My last service was a B type service and not only did it cost an arm and a leg but shortly afterwards the engine tray (that had been removed during the service) came adrift rather dramatically (I wont bore you with the details). I did complain to the dealership and they did admit that the engine tray would have had to be removed as part of the service but didn't seem to care. Many thanks in anticipation of some advice............Rgds Dave J.

Your car service manual will detail A/B services, plus other maintenance done at certain milage intervals. Do a search.

An A service is pretty standard stuff. Change the oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter, check front brake linings, check all usual items such as lights, wipers, balljoints etc.

a B service gets the rear brakes chacked and the wiper renewed.

Every two years change the brake fluid and every three the antifreeze.

It is advisable to change the ATF at every 50K or sooner and the diff oil also the fuel filter at 50K.

It may do in the USA but UK manuals do not give any detailed info, I suspect to allow dealers to maximise their income
