Servicing

Congrats Ana...where's the pics???:thumb::D

I would get a service book stamped from the start...

Thanks, yes am sure in 3 years time it wont be worth half of what I am paying for it... I may have to visit a few main dealers as wasn't really impressed by the clowns at my local dealership hear in Brighton & Hove.

I would be nervous buying a car without tangible evidence of its service history. If it now means having to go to an MB main dealer and probably paying for the privilige of sighting the cars' history - I would feel uncomfortable that I may not be receiving everything that has happened to that car.
What happens now then if the first few services are done and stored with a main dealer and thereafter the future maintenance is carried out at your local Indy who doesn't store data electronically - there could be a problem with continuity and aless than dilligent car owner could not bother to keep the history up dated and voila - a poor track record and a devalued car.
The service history is absolutely critical if you want top dollar for the car and someone coming to your house after year 5+ of ownership and NOT being shown the history of the car, is going to walk away if they have any sense. A ridiculous idea if you ask me and I suspect there is an ulterior motive here - called money.

I've just sold my Maserati Granturismo with full MSH. When I asked the dealers how much would they devalue the 2nd hand value of my car WITHOUT a service history, they were unanimous in saying: around a third would have to be knocked off!!! So my 'little stamped book' was worth in excess of £15k!!!

You do get a paper record of the service when its completed and this should be passed on but there is no service book with stamps as such. Now that isn't an issue because the stamps can be faked and that did happen to me once and was only found out when I needed Mobilo and there was no record of the service by Mercedes. Fortunately the previous stamp to the fake was valid and I got the car serviced pretty soon after to keep the history before selling it a year later so in that respect it is more secure to have electronic records.

Thanks everyone, so far loving my baby, seems well put together and is everybit as good as I expected it to be.

Wanted to add a pic but it asks for a URL not a browse and select from my HD ?

Nice car, you may want to remove the number plate on one of the images as you had done the others though :-)
