Yesterday I got one of those dreaded phone calls from the wife to say "the car's doing something funny:eek:"

Apparently the indicators, blower, wipers and windows all stopped working during a journey. It seems like there were no other symptoms and no warnings were displayed on the dash. It has never done this before. We have owned the car for 2 years.

I told her to turn the engine off then on again to see if that made any difference. Then everything began to work again.

What could cause this combination of faults? The car was in the garage the day before for a new drivers side front track rod end. Is there anything electronic close to this wheel that could have been disturbed while fitting the track rod end?

No, it's a coincidence.

BTW how much to replace the track rod end?

Local Indy around the corner did the MOT and also the TRE.
MOT was £50
Labour for TRE and check tracking was £40
Parts £15.48
Plus VAT.
Total £66.57.

Thought that was quite reasonable for the TRE. :thumb: They have done other work for me over the years and sometimes they seem quite pricey for simple things (eg oil and filter change) so usually I try to do easy stuff myself.

Seems like an issue with the front SAM or CAN bus network .
The only way to find out for sure would be to have the car dignoised .

Could you please elaborate a bit on what you mean by "front SAM or CAN bus network"?:o

The front SAM , its a control unit that recieves signals via the CAN bus network , then converts these signals to opperate differant functions such as
wipers
lights
etc

The CAN bus network is a local network internal to your car , that sends binary code signals between control units
