need to replace the side mirror adjustment switch in my W140. but i dont knw how to. any guides here. whats the procedure? do i have to remove the whole centre console?
I can't give you a procedure but I don't think the whole console has to come out, I'm sure you'd have to remove the wood panel, this covers the mountings for all the switches in there.
This isn't a job for the faint of heart, that piece of wood is very expensive so if it breaks you'll have a big bill on your hands.
I once managed to drop a very small screw into the recess around the mirror switch, it fell out of my shirt pocket. The screw was black like the switch surround so I couldn't see it. It jammed up against the switch and made it impossible to move. I was thinking about the cost of getting out when I spotted the offending screw - fished it out with a magnetic screwdriver and "Robert's your Fathers Brother" as they say.
So might be worth checking nothing is wedged in there, other wise if - like me - your not 100% confident in your ability to do it right (I'd only have to look at it funny and it would break I know it would ) I'd get down your local MB Independant - if they break anything at least they have to make good.
