Side mirrors on reverse

Another quick question.
I noticed when i put the car in reverse the passenger side mirror moved ever so slightly. As if it wanted to dip - but then chose not to!
Not sure, if it's meant to dip on reverse - or is programmable to do so. I've tried setting it whilst in reverse thinking that would be the logical way to set them - but that didn't work.
I have a w212 - keen to hear from you if you have figured out how to do this.

Edit : ignore, just found a thread with a potential answer.

If you keep the side mirror selected, it will dip. Leave it on drivers and it wont

I thought my mirror dipped when reversing on my 2014 E class. But since the comand was updated it hasn't. When I queried this with the garage when it went in again I thought they could reinstate it with Star but they told me if you don't have memory seats you cannot have a dipping mirror.
With regard to KillerHERTZ comment. That was the case on my previous CLK which had memory seats and the selector switch stayed depressed and selected until you changed it to the other side. However, on the E it is an electronic switch with warning light which only stays selected to the mirror being adjusted for a few seconds and then switches off.
When I had the instrument cluster changed on the CLK I did lose the dipping function which they restored with Star.
