Silver/Chrome Trim - CLS

I doubt polish will help....unless you take the lacquer right off with it!!. The staining usually goes all the way through the clear coat.....
Did you not see my pictures further up? Marked by TFR (at a guess, I could be wrong), then polished out and still looking good, if dusty, a year later.

Yes, mine is similar it's DAS6 Pro (can't remember what the difference is with the 'Pro' though).

I probably used my usual Meguiars DA Microfiber correction polish, which is quite a heavy cut, but I'd have gone gently with it.

Either that or I might have used the lighter correction polish that I did the second stage with...I can't remember now as it's a year ago. :( My lighter polish(es) would have been the Poorboys SSR range as I bought a few last year. SSR1 or SSR2, but anything of that ilk would do it unless the trim is completely gone.
Great result, well done. Can you remember what size pad you used (also have a DA) and did you mask any areas?

Probably a 5" hex pad (that's pretty much all I have). I checked and it was most likely SSR 2 that I used. I didn't mask (yes I'm lazy ;)) but it didn't seem to take too much effort to remove and the rear pillar/roof paintwork was being done at the same time anyway so I just let the pad go over both the trim and the paintwork.

There's a chap on YouTube, mainly works on older Mercs, that has done some videos on trying to restore the chrome on Mercs. Can't remember his name, maybe Merc Mechanic?🤔
