Unfortunately my copy of WIS doesn't have wiring diagrams for the radio connector. Car is a 2001 SL320 V6

So far I believe connector A is as follows:

A1 Speed signal (?)
A2 ???????????? (I need to know what this wire is)
A3 Mute
A4 30 +ve
A5 Antenna
A6 Illumination
A7 Ignition 15 +ve
A8 Earth 31

I need a speed impulse so I take it that A1 is really the speed signal... what output does it give as I need "Low - level = earth, high level 12-16v"

It is the wire in the connector at A2 that is bothering me. Is this related to the vehicles multiplex or CAN system?

The reason I need to know is that I am connecting an aftermarket Becker Sat Nav system and the speed impulse to A1 needs to be as specified above.

A2 needs to be connected to a 12v reverse signal, so I probably need to isolate the wire that is already there and connect the reverse signal to the radio.

Any help would be much appreciated as well as confirmation of my correct identification of the connectors!

Hi

I have fitted the becker sat nav in an SL 320 in the past and you dont actually need the reverse wire connected for it to work perfectly well.

Just plug it in to the existing MB connector block & away you go.

hope this helps but if you get stuck just shout.

here are the connections

Connector A

Pin 01 GAL Speed signal -> *
Pin 02 K - Line -> to diagnostic connecter
Pin 03 Telephone Mute
Pin 04 Fuse Box Pin 30 +12v
Pin 05 + 12v switched output for automatic antenna
Pin 06 Fuse Box Pin 58d (Illumination)
Pin 07 Fuse Box Pin 15R (Ignition)
Pin 08 Fuse Box Pin 31 Ground

Thanks Steve... I do intend to put the revers sensor wire into position A2..... from what I can see though from ML and SLK wiring diagrams the wire that is already there is part of the CAN system. Did the speed sensor wire at A1 work Ok for you?

As Steve said it should just be plug and play - if you get the original Mercedes APS30 then you may need to have it programmed for an R129 depending on what car it came from.
