Hiya, I hope someone will be able to help me solve this problem
I have a 1996 SL320. It has generally been very reliable but I do have an occasional problem with the key fob switch opening the doors but not turning off the alarm.
I put new batteries in both key fobs around 3 months ago.
This weekend though, I had to call the RAC out twice because the key fobs / alarm failed to switch off the alarm at all. Both times I had tried multiple times to unlock/lock the car. I had both fobs with me and neither would work. It doesn't appear to be the batteries in the fob itself as the green/red lights did not blink together.
The RAC guy (very helpful) fixed it both times by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then with a bit of playing around with the fobs got the car to unlock and the alarm to switch off (indicator lights to flash).
I gather frm the rAC guy that this is a regular problem with some Mercs, has anybody any ideas of how to fix this?
(I do recall a post a long, long time ago, which I cannot find, which talked about this problem and that the battery contacts in the car were the fault)
