Hi, I am a new member and 1st time poster. I have been considering purchasing an SL 2004-2005 year. I keep re-thinking as I have read lots of poor reviews about design faults affecting the electrics after water gets in through the boot and down the door frames into the actual doors.

Has anyone got knowledge of these faults.? I would rather know the truth rather than a Mercedes Rose tinted view so if anyone has honest advice or guidance I would be all to pleased to hear it. As much as I love the aesthetics internally and externally I need a car which will not make me homeless in repair bills.

Check roof seals have been done. Boot linings are dry , rear roof plug holes are clear. (SBC pump £900 fix)( electronic brakes - fabulous) They get blocked just for fun. Check the roof works properly. ABC works ( Vital) otherwise £1000 per corner. These are great cars and very few lemons. try and buy late 2006 upgrade if you can afford the minimum £17K outlay ( For a decent one). More power and less problems. Active Body Control makes a big difference to th ride. Obviously you get what you pay for with these icons.
